Seminary Scholarships: $20,000 was awarded for scholarships which will be distributed by the synod’s Candidacy Committee for the spring 2014 semester in January. Five scholarships totaling $15,000 were awarded in September for the fall 2013 semester.Money for scholarships is from the Park Place Fund, a generous gift given on closing by Park Place Lutheran Church – Houston.
New Missions: $10,133 was awarded to assist development of new missions in our synod. This grant will be distributed by the synod’s Director for Evangelical Mission, Pastor Pedro Suarez. Two leading recipients of past New Mission grants are Santiago Apostal (St. James, Houston) and San Pablo (St. Paul, Freeport).
Campus Ministry: $18,000 in grants was awarded to the Synod’s Campus Ministry Team. These grants primarily support campus ministry in the Brazos Valley (Blinn and Texas A&M) and the Houston area (University of Houston, Rice University, and the Texas Medical Center).
