Height’s Community Children’s Choir is a new ministry of Zion Lutheran church in Houston, which will provide leadership training through vocal technique and musicianship, enrichment activities, exposure to faith traditions and musical presentations in worship services. The choir started this fall with about 40 students (2nd to 5th grade.) The $2,000 grant from the MEF is seed money to assist the congregation in startup costs.

The Team Building Ropes Course is part of a new retreat ministry being developed at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Slidell, Louisiana. After hurricane Katrina, the congregation built a multipurpose building which housed hundreds of work groups. The congregation would now like to use the building for a retreat ministry. The $3,000 MEF grant will provide for the installation, materials and training for safe usage of three different rope stations.

Sophia’s Children is a new ministry of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of New Orleans. The ministry will provide a traveling preschool for children and parents not able to access other traditional preschool services.  Two hour sessions will be offered twice a week for 11 months.
