Synod Assembly- May 11-12, 2012 Worship in the World: Some Assembly Required!”

Registration for the 2012 Synod Assembly is now open!  This year’s theme, “Worship in the World:  Some Assembly Required” will provide inspiration, practical ideas, and high-level thinking about the most central element of Christian community – worship.  Along with the business of the Assembly, participants will engage in plenary sessions with keynotes by The Rev. Dr. Jennifer Lord and The Rev. Dr. Benjamin Stewart, a large variety of workshop topics, an update on the synod’s strategic planning process, and, of course, worship!

We invite you to bring your key congregational leaders, and particularly anyone who has responsibility for planning worship in the congregation. A special Saturday-only rate is available for visitors to come just on Saturday to participate in the keynotes and workshops.

A couple of business highlights:

  • Several Synod Council members and voting members to the 2013 Churchwide Assembly will be elected this year. Please see links to the nomination forms on the Synod Assembly 2012 Web page.  If you or someone you know has gifts for this kind of service to the wider church, please consider nominating yourself (or someone else).  Instructions are on the form.  The deadline to submit a completed nomination form is March 1, 2012.
  • Resolutions are now being accepted for consideration at the Synod Assembly.  In order to be considered, nominations must be submitted by April 15, 2012. A link to the form can be found on the Synod Assembly 2012 Web page.  Instructions for submitting the form are included with the form.
