The letter below is from The Rev. Andre Golicke, President of our companion synod, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Central African Republic. This year the ELC-CAR sent two students to the ELCA Youth Gathering, sponsored by their companion synods. The photo is of Frédéric Samba and Ornella Golike (President Golicke’s daughter), who had a great time during their four weeks here in the U.S. The ELC-CAR is also a companion with the two synods in North Dakota, so Ornella and Frédéric also spent some time up north. Ornella was impressed with the youth event. Frédéric commented on how impressed he was with the huge, organized farms in North Dakota. Both French-speaking students mentioned being frustrated at not being able to communicate as well as they would like. This photo was taken at a meet-and-greet with youth at Living Word Lutheran Church in Katy. They visited congregations in many parts of our synod–New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Brenham, Katy, and Houston
Dear Bishop Mike my brother,
Greetings to you and your staff in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
This is to tell you that the two young people from the Eglíse Evangelique Luterienne de la Republique Centafricaine are our children. Ornella is our last daughter elected by the Youth Department for the gathering.
I hope you, Peggy, Lucia and others are doing well. We wish you all the divine blessings.
Rev. André GOLICKE, President
